Initial contact and short description:
Since its establishment in 1965, Applied Sweepers has specialized in the design and manufacture of compact sweeping machines to sweep downtown areas, sidewalks, and other congested outdoor areas beyond the reach of larger more traditional street sweepers.
’’The best-selling sweeper of its class - in the world,’’ states the advertising literature for Applied Sweepers Green Machines. Of its 400 series product, of which there are 10000 in operation worldwide, the vacuum sweeper, with a compacting/pulverising impeller fan, offers high speed collection and safe pick-up of broken glass and other sharp objects.
Applied Sweepers 636 Hi-speed Green machine uses high strength structural stainless steel for its chassis and suspension; a rigid stainless steel tubular cab frame; and a hopper also constructed from stainless steel. This design offers the best possible corrosion resistance for aggressive working environments.

Their use of welding led to an initial visit to TPS Fronius Head Office and equipment trials.

Solution:
Tests and trial were carried out on site at the Tech Centre at TPS Fronius head office in Kilmarnock. The customer brought some typical components from their product range for use Fronius equipment. The testing was carried out over the full day and Applied Sweepers then considered their next move.

TPS then arranged a months trial use of the above products at Applied Sweepers manufacturing base at Falkirk during which time they carefully evaluated the Fronius equipment and costed the savings they estimated were available by using the superior Fronius equipment. They found that the manufacturing time would be reduced, spatter eliminated, less consumables including gas and wire size were all to be saved.
